    Overview density meters

    What means density measuring?

The density measuring is an analytical concentration measurement method for mixtures.

In addition to the concentration and the speed of sound, an important measuring factor is the density when dealing with the composition of a mixture. The mass density is one of the characteristics of a material and is given in mass per volume. Its SI unit is kg/m³ or g/cm³.

In case of quality measurements, there is some overlapping with the refractometry. An additional density measuring is thus useful to validate the measuring results.

With this new generation of measurement devices, minute capillaries have replaced the once large flexural resonator tubes. An integrated micro-mechanical measuring module already delivers reliable measuring results for sample quantities of 30 µl. In case of expensive samples, this method results in substantial cost savings.

The new digital density measuring devices allow for high-precision measurements of the density, relative density or the concentration of aqueous solutions. They are used for both quantity and quality checks. The reliable flexural resonator made of glass is ideal for measurements of higher viscosities.
