Pleochroism – seen with a Dichroscope

Gary A. Roskin, publisher of Roskin Gem News Report, has provided us with these wonderful pictures of a double refraction of light.

This optical phenomenon, also called pleochroism, can be observed very well using a dichroscope. A substance appears to be differently coloured when seen from different angles.
